The book was recommended by Greygranite, one of Dr Anne's friends.
Dr Anne had read 'The House by the Lake' in 2016 and found it totally absorbing to read about the history of the owners of a house over 100 years.
This book was slightly different in that it described a family living in Archangel in the very early 20th Century through the eyes of a young girl. The Scottish connection added a dimension which made this a fascinating read.
Dr Anne awards 7/10.
