The National Park

Dr Anne visited the biggest lake in Iceland situated in the Pingvellir National Parliament, a UNESCO world heritage site and arguably the most important place in Iceland in terms of history, culture and geology.  In the Almannagjá gorge you see where the tectonic plates of North America and Eurasia split and drift apart. You also see where the first parliament was held in the 12th century.

Geysir

Dr Anne drove to Geysir, the home of Geysirs.  It took her five hours to get there.

The Blue Lagoon

Dr Anne visited the Blue Lagoon.  She did not go in the pool after her experience of the thermal baths in Budapest. She enjoyed a walk around th lava fields.

Hallgrímskirja

Went on an amazing visit to the Church of Hallgrimur.  It is dedicated to the most renowned sacred poet of Iceland, Hallgrimur Pétursson.

On Thursday there was an amazing concert by Dorthe Højland on the saxophone and Lára Bryndís Eggertsdóttir on the organ.

Their rendition of Amazing Grace will linger with me forever. Morning has Broken was the encore.

The, Outsider

Forsyth, F. (2015). The Outsider. London: Transworld Publishers.

Dr Anne picked up this book at the airport on her way to Canada.  Freddie Forsyth has always been one of her favourite authors, her favourite, The Odessa File. She thought this was his latest book but it was in fact his autobiography.  Dr Anne read of his love of planes, travel, fishing and life, really his life in intrigue.  It was an interesting read into how his amazing books were researched and the stories developed. She awards 7/10.

All Weld Sculptures in Toronto

Dr Anne had three requests when she visited Canada recently:

Meet all the people she knew;
Eat fresh corn from the pot;
Visit 'All Weld' Sculptures in and around Toronto.

B&S took Dr Anne downtown one stormy day.  Dr Anne jumped out of the car to photograph the sculptures.
