Lausanne

Dr Anne remembers Lausanne.  She bought a musical house.  Linda bought a musical toilet roll holder.  This time around Dr Anne visited the Olympic Museum.  Lausanne is the headquarters of the Olympic Committee.

Switzerland

It was in 1970 when Dr Anne and her friend Linda set off hitch hiking to Europe.  The visited Geneva, Lausanne, Montreux and Berne.  Dr Anne is back in Switzerland 46 years on.  She flew into Geneva and took the train to Allaman.  Her cousins B&B picked her up and took her to Aubonne.

Maman, what are we called now?

Mesnil-Amar, J. (2015). Maman, what are we called now?. London: Persephone Books Ltd.

Greygranite's Christmas present was this amazing read.  She knows of my travels across Europe recently.

This was an excellent thought provoking book at the turn of a new year.

"I had not understood that what I had thought of as my destiny might be my fate nor that it was from him alone I could look for almost all my earthly joy."

A beautifully written diary of thoughts.

# A Theme for the holiday

Yes, hats...

# day 11 Munich

Dr Anne and JD set off for Odeonplatz.  After great difficulty they found an underground station to take them there.  They spent the day at Der Residenz, the palace of the Bavarian rulers from 1385 - 1918.  It was an enormous building which took three hours to travel through.  It was like a village.

They went to Marienplaz to see the Rathaus.

By chance they caught an opportunity to attend a chamber concert in Der Residenz. They came from Dresden.   It was violin, viola, cello, double bass, flute and piano.  There was also a soprano soloist.  The repertoire was light with Strauss, Lehâr, Puccini, Tschaikowsky.  There were Kâlmân pieces which touched the heart.  Magnificent.
