Sweet Caress
Boyd, W. (2015). Sweet Caress. London: Bloomsbury.
However long your stay on this planet lasts, and whatever happens during it, the most important thing is that - from time to time - you feel life's sweet caress.
Amory Clay's life in Berlin, London, NY, Paris, Vietnam, Scotland - loves, and end of life is the story. Dr Anne started reading at Aberdeen Airport on her way to the Chelsea Flower Show and finished it an hour after she arrived home. (She was delayed at Heathrow for three hours.) She turned the pages.
It wasn't as good as Restless, Ordinary Thunderstorms and Waiting for Sunrise. She awards 6/10.
The Band Stand and Pimms
Dr Anne met up with friends SS and MH this week. They headed off to the Chelsea Flower Show. It was their first visit so Dr Anne showed them the ropes then meeting up every two hours for drinks and food.
It was a jazz singer at the bandstand.
The Show Gardens
This year Dr Anne is putting up the pictures of the show gardens that she liked. They are a difficult category as they are always so busy and really difficult to judge.
The Chelsea Barracks Garden - Gold
It is the nearest to Dr Anne's idea of a garden.
St John's Hospice - A Modern Apothecary - Silver Gilt
The Fresh Gardens
The Akzo Nobel Honeysuckle Blues Garden - Silver Gilt
The Imperial Garden - Revive - Silver
The complex relationships between Russia, Ukraine and the U.K. Theme is lace.
World Vision's garden symbolising the journey of life - Silver Gilt
After the dak, there can be light.
The Garden of Potental - Silver Gilt
Rugged Icelandic landscapes, a Buddhist sense of oneness, a Venetian architect
The Modern Slavery Garden - Gold
At the back of doors there is darkness.
The Marble and Granite Centre - Antithesis of Sarcophagi - Gold
A garden snide out. Spy holes to look through.
