London 2015

Dr Anne loves wandering around London.  She always end up on the South Bank and the Embankment.  The skyline never fails to impress.

Westminster and Big Ben.

From the South Bank.

Buses on Blackfriars Bridge.

The Millenium Bridge

The Tate Modern

The crypt in St Martins in the Field.  This is a great place for lunch or a coffee.

At the entrance to St Martin's in the Field.  IN THE BEGINNING...  Dr Anne always tries to take in a service here. This time it was Sunday Evensong.

The Cultural Stuff

Dr Anne always does a show and an exhibition when she goes to London.  It was last minute choices this year but great.

The show was Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown.  It was at the Playhouse near the Embankment.

The cast put on a terrific show.  Being a small theatre one felt totally part of the production. The show attracted many groups of women to the show.  How many get to the edge?  Set in Madrid in 1987 the story line was about the effects of love rat Ivan.  The moral was that a new day brings new expectations, new happenings.  What happened yesterday can't be undone.

The funniest part was the gazpacho soup with Valium.  What a good idea?

Friday took Dr Anne to the Tate Modern to the Sonia Delaunay exhibition.  It was superb.  Dr Anne loved her use of colour to give the impression of 3 D.  Her textile design was amazing.  Her later work showed great skill, wonderful eye and superb knowledge of the cultural influences around her.

London 2015

One year it was Boris's Hats.  Then, there were the Olympic mascots?  One year it was Easter Eggs.  One year it was cows.  This year?  SHEEP...

A Leicester Square.

Menstrie

Dr Anne is in Menstrie visiting her friend SS.  They have a weekend of pampering planned.

This morning the twosome visited Sandra's mum who at 99 years old has just moved into a care home.  When they arrived the activities co-ordinator was holding a music session.  There was lots of fun and laughter.

The Legacy

Having been enthralled by Borgen, Dr Anne bought the recent series of The Legacy, another Danish drama.

It tells the story of Veronica, a renowned artist's legacy when she dies after a short illness.  There is Frederick, the eldest, a lawyer, a guy who suffers with mental illness.  Emil is the younger son who has lived aff his mother for years.  Gro, a daughter by another man has managed the mother's business.  Then there is Sunshine another daughter by another man who gets a deathbed will leaving her the multi million pound house and grounds.

The series tells the aftermath.

Not so gripping as Borgen. Dr Anne awards 7/10.

Daffodils

Beautiful daffodils this week.  A wonderful time of the year.

Trellis 2

The big trellis with the sun is complete.  It has taken four sessions to get it the way mother would have wanted.  Dr Anne is happy it is completed.

Trellis

Dr Anne is on holiday.  The weather has brightened up and she headed outdoors.  She has spent 8+ hours at the trellis.  It is the very best she can do.  One down and only three to go...
